Richard Everett (Dick) Miller - 03/01/1929-10/10/2015

Dick Miller, 86, passed away peacefully at his cherished Grand Marais, MI home, surrounded by family and friends, on Saturday, October 10, 2015 following a courageous bout with cancer. He was born to Everett and Mable Miller on March 1, 1929 in Regent, North Dakota at the terminus of what is now renowned as "the Enchanted Highway"a"a fitting beginning of an excellent life. Dick was a devoted member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, where funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 13 at 11:00 a.m.; visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Holy Rosary Cemetery with full military honors.

Dick served with distinction in the U.S. Coast Guard for more than 22 years during which he was awarded many medals and commendations, retiring as a Master Chief Engineman, the highest enlisted rank possible. He was also well-known and admired for both his great sense of humor and his amazing ability to remember dates, names, routes, and cards.
Above all, Dick Miller was a kind, gentle family man who doted on each and every one of his five grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren, thoroughly enjoying every moment with thema"bringing joy to both his and their lives every time they were together.
