Marinette, WI / Munising
Richard R. St.Amour, age 79, of Marinette, WI and formerly of Munising died on Sunday evening, March 20, 2022 at St. Anne Extended Health Care in Winona, MN. Beyond the physical ailments he was dealing with, his family truly believes he died of a broken heart after the death of his beloved wife, Kay, on January 6th of this year. Richard was born in Munising on August 22, 1942 to Leonard and Agnes (Gerow) St.Amour and attended Sacred Heart School and Wm. G. Mather High School. He left school early to work on the Lake as a commercial fisherman for the Thill brothers, but after he was married, he proudly went back and earned his diploma. Richard served in the U.S. Army in the 1960’s and was stationed in Colorado and Korea. He returned home to Munising, and married Kay Peterson on August 28, 1965. Together they went on to adopt and raise two daughters, Michelle and Cindy. Richard worked as a deliveryman for Bunny Bread before the family moved to California. He worked as a repairman for Sears during the day and at a gas station at night so Kay did not have to work and could stay home with their girls. Richard always had a job and always had a dedicated and strong work ethic. The family returned to the Midwest and he and Kay resided in Marinette. Richard enjoyed riding in the car, taking trips to the casino, and watching and cheering for the Detroit Red Wings, Lions, and Tigers. He loved spending time with his daughters and granddaughters.
He is survived by his daughters – Michelle (Sean) St.Amour-Smith of Lewiston, MN and Cindy St.Amour of Marinette, WI; treasured granddaughters – Addison and Harper; sisters – Marie St.Amour and Debra St.Amour of Munising; brother – Donnie St.Amour of Ishpeming; mother-in-law – Kathleen “Kass” Peterson of Munising; in-laws – Barb (Ted) Fulcher, Jim Peterson, Greg (Sharon) Peterson, and Kelly Peterson. Richard was preceded in death by his parents Leonard and Agnes, wife Kay, brother David St.Amour, and father-in-law Howard Peterson.
