Rita A. Dull, age 86, of Vardon Road, Munising, died on Friday afternoon, November 15, 2013 at the Harbour View Assisted Living in Munising. She was born on February 19, 1927 in New York City, NY to Charles and Annie (Weiler) Farr. Rita grew up in Union, NJ. She moved to southern Illinois to attend Blackburn College where she began training for a career in nursing. It was there she met Marvin Dull and they were married on August 26, 1951. When their first child came along, Rita left nurses' training and happily shifted to her role as mom and homemaker. The family of three moved to Munising in 1954 where two more children were eventually added to the family. In 1957, Rita dedicated her life to serving Jehovah God and was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. She faithfully served as a member of the Munising Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses since its formation in ~1960. Rita worked tirelessly to instill Bible truths in her three children and eventually Marvin too embraced this faith. Together Marvin and Rita made loving efforts to share what the Bible really teaches with family and neighbors alike. No doubt, many in the area will remember her stopping to share encouragement and comfort from the scriptures. Her favorite subjects included the Bible's promise to soon bring an end to suffering and death; that man will enjoy endless life in paradise on earth with dead loved ones resurrected and all restored to health and youthful vitality. The enclosed photo of a youthful Rita offers a glimpse of what we may expect the next time we see her. Rita also enjoyed walking the boardwalk with her daughter, playing Scrabble with Marvin and in her younger days: tennis, cross country skiing, and picking morels.
Rita is survived by her three children - Kenner (Sandra) Dull of DePere, WI, Karen Mulye of Munising and Brian (Lisa) Dull of Munising; seven grandchildren - Heather (Andy) Hartwig, Sarah (Todd) Tomalak, Adriana (James) Davis, Deanna, Andrew and Taylor Mulye and Maria (Dull) Knuttila; four great-grandchildren - Avery, Nolan, Isaac and Ella; brother - William (Barbara) Farr; and a nephew - Jeff (Pam) Farr. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of sixty years Marvin who died on October 22, 2011, and a sister Else Farr who died just five days before Rita.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 23, 2013 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses at N6888 Connors Road in Munising. A visitation will be held at the Kingdom Hall between 12:00 noon and 1:00 p.m. Dennis Lancour will give the memorial talk. Interment will be at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Munising.
