Munising
Robert "Bob" Paul Cota, age 69, of 209 ½ W. Superior Street, Munising, died at the Munising Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, July 2, 2008 at 9:30 a.m. He was born on July 8, 1938 in Munising to the late Arthur and Sylvia (Johns) Cota. Bob attended Wm.G. Mather High School and in April of 1956 he entered in to the U.S. Navy where he earned his high school diploma. Bob served on the U.S.S. Bennington and was discharged to the Reserves on February 15, 1958. He had married Virginia Cotey in 1962 and they had two sons. Bob attended college in Wisconsin and became an industrial engineer working all over the country and retiring from Marathon Electric in Wausau, WI. Bob had married Fran Kennedy in the 1990's. He was a member of the American Legion Post #131, Vietnam Veterans of America, and the V.F.W. of Duck Creek, WI. Bob enjoyed fishing and socializing with family and friends.
He is survived by two sons - Greg Cota of Munising and Jon-Paul Cota of Oklahoma City, OK; granddaughters - Christina Gregory, Marie Cota, Cody Cota all of Oklahoma City, and Cheyenne Cota of Munising; five great-grandchildren; caregiver and friend - Fran Kennedy of Munising; two stepdaughters - Cindy and Sue; sisters - Sylvia Ruperd of Idaho, Bev Polmatier of Munising, and Ruth (Leon) Hebert of Wisconsin, and Karen (Wally) Schultz of Munising; brother-in-law - Cliff Engman of McMillan and sister-in-law - Vi Cota-Groom of Wetmore; and numerous nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his parents Art and Sylvia, brothers Cliff and Eugene Cota, and a sister Shirley Engman.
A Memorial Service will be held at American Legion Post #131 in Munising on Monday, July 7, 2008 at 4:00 p.m. where the American Legion Honor Guard and Alger County Veterans Council will conduct military honors.
