Escanaba / Traunik
Robert "Bob" H. Fetterhoff, age 85, of Escanaba, and formerly of Traunik, died Wednesday, September 16, 2009 at OSF Saint Francis Hospital in Escanaba. He was born on January 8, 1924 to the late Fred and Clara (Trumpower) Fetterhoff, in Manistique, Michigan. Bob married Frances Nichols in December of 1942, they were married for forty-two years when she preceded him in death in 1984. He entered into the U.S. Army in January of 1943. Bob served in the European - African -Middle Eastern Theater receiving four overseas service bars. He was honorably discharged on in October 1945. After returning home form the service, Bob started his career as a lumberjack for many years. While working in the woods he also worked for Cliff Dell Chemical for three years, drove bus for the Trenary School, he was in charge of upkeep at the Kiva Park, and he also was a caretaker at seasonal homes in the area for fifteen years. Bob married Josephine Zbacnik on October 21, 2000. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and playing horseshoes, but the thing that brought the most joy was lending a hand to those who needed help.
Bob is survived by his wife Josie Fetterhoff of Escanaba; six daughters - Clara (Ron) Ward of Escanaba, Dorothy (Ken) Brink of Muskegon, MI, Margaret (Russ) Maynard of Ironwood, MI, Shirley (Patrick Davis) Spradlin of Muncie, IN, Mary (Steve) Duckworth of Anderson, IN, and Roberta "Birdie" (Mike Murphy) Fetterhoff of Maysville, KY; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife - Frances; parents - Fred and Clara; sisters - Harriet, Beatrice, and Juanita; brothers - Lee, Frank, Harry, Dick, and Bill; and granddaughter Tamie Gammon
Bob's visitation will be on Friday September 25, 2009 at the Bowerman Funeral Home in Munising from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. then on Saturday, September 26, there will be visitation form 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. at the Limestone Baptist Church in Limestone. The Funeral will begin at 11:00 a.m. at the church with interment at the Mathias Twp. Cemetery in Trenary where the Alger County Veterans Council and American Legion Honor Guard will conduct military honors.
