Robert “Bob” “Boomer” Grahovac, age 73, of Edwardsburg, MI died while surrounded by his family on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at UPHS in Marquette, Michigan following unexpected complications of COPD. He was born on February 27, 1945 in Blue Island, Illinois to Michael and Virginia (Leitza) Grahovac. He graduated from White Pigeon High School in 1964 and then worked for New York Central Railroad as a conductor for twenty-three years. In retirement, Boomer and Patty Majewski owned and operated Boomerelli’s Pizza in Elkhart, IN for over twenty years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 365 in Edwardsburg, Ducks Unlimited, and C.O.P.S. (Concerns of Police Survivors). He loved to hunt, fish, make candles, making picture frames while woodworking, and cheering on the Michigan Wolverines. Boomer earned his nickname because of his love of fireworks. He and Patty liked to travel and especially enjoyed traveling around the Caribbean with St. Martin as one of their favorite places. Bob was a generous man with his time and talents.
Bob is survived by his wife – Patty Majewski-Grahovac of Edwardsburg; sons – Tony (Donna) Grahovac of Munising and Sam (Connie) Grahovac of Traunik; grandchildren Cori (Shaun), Carri (Joel), Craig (Andrea), Alex (Mandy), Codey (Meagan), Jesse, Jay, and Raysha; ten great-grandchildren with two on the way; brother - Richard Grahovac of Cincinnati, OH, Sister-in-law Jane Grahovac of Elkhart, IN, brothers-in-law – Dave (Monica) Majewski, Mark (Robin Morris) Majewski, and Tom (Jenni) Majewski; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Deputy Paul Grahovac, and brother Michael Grahovac.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, July 22, 2018 at the American Legion Post 365 in Edwardsburg. Doors will open at 2:00 p.m. with a brief memorial service at 3:00 p.m. followed by a luncheon a time of visiting until 6:00 p.m.
