Robert "Bob" Allan Hoffins, age 63, of Ostrander Lake, died unexpectedly at his home on Sunday, September 13, 2009. He was born on April 29, 1946 in Munising, to the late Joe and Ethel (Baij) Hoffins. Bob graduated from Wm. G. Mather High School and then entered the U.S. Army in 1966, and was honorably discharged in August of 1972. He began working for the City of Munising in 1973 at both the water treatment plant and then in the city garage, until he retired in July of 2004.
Bob is survived by his daughter - Peggy Lynn (Steve) Hall of Eustis, FL; son - Allan Robert (Candice Clouse) Hoffins of Wetmore; grandchildren - Loki Gage and Odin Allan Hoffins, and Abbie Hall; sister - Ruth Ann Barton of Green Bay, WI; sister-in-law - Ruth Hoffins of Glendale Heights, IL; nephews - David and Mike Barton, and numerous other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Joe and Ethel, and brother James Hoffins.
A memorial service will be on Saturday, October 3, 2009 at Eden Lutheran Church in Munising at 12:00 p.m. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until noon. Pastor Ellie Russey will conduct the memorial service. Interment will be at the Maple Grove Cemetery where the Alger County Veterans Council and American Legion Honor Guard will conduct military honors.
