Munising
Robert "Bob" Laurich, age 83, of 412 W. Superior Street, Munising, died late Wednesday evening, June 8, 2011 at his home under the loving care of his family and North Woods Hospice. He was born on May 4, 1928 in Munising to the late Joseph and Antoinia (Knaus) Laurich. Bob graduated from Wm. G. Mather High School in 1946. He served in the U.S. Army before and after college. Bob graduated from Michigan Technological University with a Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering. He worked for fifteen years in Chile which was where he met his wife, Dee Larter. They were married on July 28, 1956. Bob consulted for many companies around the U.S. and the world. He was a member of the M.T.U. Alumni and Society of Mining Engineers. Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife - Dee Laurich of Munising; children - Robin Laurich Marini of Chile, Suzie (Glenn) Laurich-McIntyre of Pittsburgh, PA, Cliff (Julia Clore-Laurich) Laurich of Kings Mountain, NC and Barbara (Edmundo) Zuniga of Kings Mountain, NC; grandchildren - Keith, Luis, Ian, Natasha, and Andy; great-grandson - Benjamin; sister - Josie Johnson of California; and sister-in-law - Bette Laurich of California. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Frank and Tony Laurich and son-in-law Alessandro Marini.
