Munising

Robert “Bob” Leaton Robinson, age 84, of Munising, died suddenly, Sunday, May 15, 2022 at Munising Memorial Hospital.  He was born on March 19, 1938 in Munising to the late Elmer and Beatrice (Wright) Robinson.  Bob grew up in Melstrand and started working in the woods in eighth grade hauling timber with a horse team.  As he got older, Bob worked for Rossie Anderson at the Anderson Oil Company Gulf Gas Station, VanEss Construction where he worked on gas lines across the Midwest and Canada, and was a Pettibone operator at Hartho.  In 1974, Bob started Robinson Trucking and was a logging truck operator until he retired in 1990.  His CB handle was “Lead Foot”.  On October 25, 1958, Bob married Carol Savoie and together they raised their three children.  Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, riding snowmobiles, and racing snowmobiles.  He loved dancing with Carol, her family would call them “Fred and Ginger” because of the way they would glide across the dance floor.  Bob liked his routine, he would get up early, head to “work” at the Modern Woodsmith, put the coffee on, and wait for the crew to arrive.  He would sweep up, go on parts runs, and deliveries, but his favorite thing was telling stories and visiting.

Bob is survived by his children - Jody (Don) Tweedale of Munising, Ron Robinson of Alma, and Rob (Colleen) Robinson of Alma; grandchildren - Bryce Tweedale, Kimberly Tweedale, Rachel Robinson, Dustin Robinson, and Molly (Matt) Booth; great-grandchildren – Carter, Kaity, and Bennett; siblings - Florence Goin, Wayne (Linda) Robinson, Allen (Mary Ann) Robinson, Bruce (Kim) Robinson; brothers and sister-in-law - Gerry (Richard) Karr and Mark Guest; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; special friends – Rich Hill, Willie McFarlan, and Don Kinnunen; “boss” – Tim Flynn, and special neighbor – Kathy Carr.  He was preceded in death by his wife - Carol Robinson; parents – Elmer and Beatrice; in-laws – Roy and Dorothy Savoie; brother – Clayton Robinson; brothers and sisters-in-law – Bob Goin, Pat (Ralph) Shafer, Al (Sally) Savoie, Irene (Bob) Coon, Phyllis (Don) Laundry, Joyce (Jack) McLeary, Mary (Frank) Hamlin, Janet (Dick) Murphey, Linda Guest, Vicki (Doc) Fredricks, and Jean (Harold) Brown.

A private family gathering will take place at a later date.  “Lead Foot signing off.”
