Robert “Bud” Raymond, age 65, of Kingsford and formerly of Munising, died late Friday morning, May 11, 2018 at the Dickinson Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain following a three-day illness. Buddy was born on December 2, 1952 in Munising to the late Harris “Bud” and Beatrice (Mogg) Raymond. He grew up in Munising and graduated from Wm. G. Mather High School. Bud took Radio and Electronic training classes in Detroit and then worked in Colorado Springs, CO. He returned to Munising and worked at Hiawatha TV and the radio station before he began employment at Kimberly Clark. He married Betty J. Prine on October 31, 1978. Bud then graduated from Bay de Noc Community College as a computer programmer. Bud and Betty moved to the Iron Mountain area and he was employed at C.C.I. Systems, Inc. as a cable designer until he medically had to retire. They were married over thirty-six years when she preceded him in death on May 25, 2015. Bud enjoyed working on computers, watching old movies on Turner Classic Movies, reading, playing guitar, watching zombie movies, and visiting with people. Bud was a great fan of the The Grateful Dead.
He is survived by his sisters – Janet Miron of Wetmore, MI, Sandra (David) Case) of Grand Junction, MI, and Roberta Ley of St. Johns, MI; brother – Terry (Jeri McGovern) Raymond of Franklin, IN; and nine nieces and nephews. Bud was preceded in death by his parents, wife Betty, brother Jeff Raymond, and brothers-in-law Don Miron and Doug Ley.
Services will be held on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at the Bowerman Funeral Home in Munising. Visiting time with family and friends will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Pastor Jason LaFlamme will conduct Bud’s memorial service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Munising.
