ROGER'S SERVICE TIMES HAVE BEEN AMENDED

Roger Perron, age 71, of Wetmore, died unexpectedly on Saturday afternoon, September 2, 2017 at St. Mary’s Mayo Clinic Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota following a brief illness. He was born in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan to Romeo and Marjorie (Castagne) Perron. The family moved to Munising when Roger was two and he grew up in Munising. Roger graduated from Wm. G. Mather High School in 1964 and then enlisted into the U.S. Navy in August of 1965. Roger served as a Boilerman First Class on the U.S.S. Klondike until August of 1969. Roger then went to work at Kimberly Clark and worked from September 1969 until his retirement in July of 2002. On May 3, 1980, Roger married Janet Mary Fichtner and together raised their son, Joe. Roger was a self-proclaimed “Junk Collector Extraordinaire” and even had his own business cards saying so. He loved to buy, barter, trade and collect. Roger loved the entire process of “horse trading.” He especially had a passion for purchasing cars. Roger was a member of Sacred Heart Church and the American Legion. He enjoyed road trips with his best friend, Tom Ferzacca. Roger liked cheering on the Chicago Cubs and playing Smear at the Barge Inn and American Legion. Roger, the great agitator, will be missed by those he loved to agitate and those who agitated him.
He is survived by his wife of over thirty-seven years – Janet Perron; their son and daughter-in-law – Joe and Kayla Perron of Christmas; granddaughter – Kenadie Perron; mother – Marjorie Perron of Munising; siblings – Penny (Don) Stephens, Mike (Janice “Tuni”) Perron, Christine (John) Ochman, and Paula Perron all of Munising; and numerous nieces and nephews. Roger was preceded in death by his father – Romeo Perron and parents-in-law – Clarence and Luella Fichtner.
Visiting time with family and friends will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at the Bowerman Funeral Home from 1:00 until 5:00 p.m. A Rosary will be prayed at 5:00 p.m. with prayers to follow with Fr. Chris Gardiner at 5:30 p.m. Interment will be at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Munising where the American Legion and Vietnam Veteran Honor Guard will conduct military honors at 6:00 p.m.
