Roland Keith "Ron" "Rollie" Ouellette, age 80, of Trenary, Michigan died unexpectedly, Sunday, February 3, 2013 at his home in Trenary. He was born on April 22, 1932, in Marquette, Michigan to the late Edmond and Rose (Richmond) Ouellette. Roland graduated from Trenary High School and then entered into the United States Army. He married Darlene Dhaene and together they raised their five children. Roland worked for many years at DOW Chemical as a carpenter, and then joined the Carpenters Union and began building homes. He played a major role in starting the Trenary Outhouse Classic with his close friend Toivo Aho, and enjoyed working to grow the event to what it is today. He was a member of the Lions Club, Knights of Columbus, and St. Rita's Church in Trenary. He enjoyed spending time with friends and reading western novels.
Roland is survived by his children - Rita (Richard) Hutto of Hazlehurst, GA, Brenda (Rolin) Peppel of Bay City, MI, and Brian Ouellette of Ferndale, MI; daughter-in-law - Carolyn Ouellette; grandchildren - Brandi (Jeff) Hauser, Danielle (Noah) Trombley, and Kelsey Hollies; great-grandchildren - Jayden Hauser and Lincoln Trombley; brothers - Floyd, Stan (Elaine), and Bud Ouellette; sister - Faye Bahrman; former sister-in-law - Mary Ouellette; niece - Diane "Dee Dee" (Dan) Walberg; nephew - Jimmy Dhaene; and numerous other nieces and newphews. He was preceded in death by his parents, former wife Darlene, children - Edmond Ouellette and Denise Hollies; sister - Margaret (Chuck) Busha; brother-in-law - Bob Bahrman; and sister-in-law - Grace Ouellette.
Visitation will be held at the Bowerman Funeral Home on Friday evening from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Saturday from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. Roland's funeral Mass will be celebrated by Father Jacek Wytklo at St. Rita's Church in Trenary on Saturday, February 9, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at the Mathias Township Cemetery in the spring, where the American Legion and Vietnam Veterans Honor Guard will conduct military honors.
