Trout Creek
Ronald “Ron” W. Lewis, age 81, of Trout Creek, Michigan and formerly of Racine, Wisconsin died Tuesday, April 1, 2025 in Munising, Michigan. He was born in Racine on July 13, 1943 to the late Robert and Irene (Beyer) Lewis. Ron grew up in Racine and graduated from Lutheran High School where he played football and ran track for the Crusaders. He entered into the United States Army in 1965 and was a member of the 68th Armor Battalion stationed in Germany working on tanks. Ron was honorably discharged in 1967 as a SP5 (T) and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. He began working at J.I. Case in the foundry making tractors until his retirement in 1998. Ron was a member of the UAW in Racine. After retirement, Ron moved to the U.P. where he loved to hunt and fish. He worked as a bartender at UP Chuck’s Bar in Kenton where he enjoyed the socializing he got to do at work. Ron loved spending time with his family and playing cribbage. He passed his love of hunting and fishing along to his sons and then grandsons, which made him very happy.
Ron is survived by his sons – Travis (Keyra) Lewis of Crystal Falls, MI, Troy (Patty) Lewis of New Holstien, WI, and Trevor Lewis of Racine; grandsons – Dale, Hunter, and Roman; siblings – twin brother Rich (Rosemary) Lewis, Teri Rawley, George (Sandy) Giese, Jr., and Maureen (Al) Kroes; brother-in-law – Ronnie Eisel and Frank Sedaska; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father – Robert Lewis; mother and step-father – Irene and George Giese; siblings – Robert Lewis, Jr., Carol Eisel, JoAnn Sedaska, and Brian Giese.
Military Honors will be performed at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove, Wisconsin on Friday, May 2, 2025 at 9:00 a.m.
