Ronald Jack Pierson, age 80, of 207 W. Varnum Street in Munising, died under the loving care of his family and North Wood Hospice at his home on Sunday evening, September 27, 2015. He was born on the family farm on Koski Road in AuTrain Township on April 25, 1935 to Carl and Marguerite (Helsel) Pierson. Ron grew up in AuTrain and Munising. He graduated from Wm. G. Mather High School in 1953. Ron went to work at Kimberly Clark in July of 1953 and dedicated over thirty-nine years of service to the company. He was machine tender at the time of his retirement on December 30, 1992. Ron had married Sarah Jean Reno on May 5, 1956 and together they raised their four children. They were charter members of the U.P. Chiefs and enjoyed spending time walking, dancing, mushroom hunting and being a wonderful marriage team together. Ron was a sportsman and loved being out in the woods hunting or fishing. He especially loved walking Angel and working with wood. Ron was a gifted woods crafter creating furniture, frames for Sarah's artwork, bird feeders, and more.
He is survived by his loving wife of over fifty-nine years - Sarah Pierson of Munising; their children - Allan (Cherrie) Pierson of Kincheloe, MI, Gina (John) Barkley and Lisa (Bruce) Muzyczka all of Black River Falls, WI, and Rory (Steph) Pierson of Melstrand, MI; grandchildren - Derek, Alicia, Samantha, Ronald, Danielle, Travis, Jared, Briana, Jessica, and Carl; eight great-grandchildren with one on the way; sisters - Beda (Gary) Hinderer of Springfield, OH and Donna Robare of Munising; and numerous nieces and nephews. Ron was preceded in death by his parents and brother Royce Pierson.
Private family services will be held at a later date. Memorials are requested to be offered to the Wounded Warrior Project or North Woods Hospice of Alger County.
