Rosalie I. Vaudreuil, age 99, of Grand Marais, died Wednesday, July 9, 2008 at the Superior Health Haven in Munising. She was born on September 2, 1908 in Grand Marais, MI to the late Valentine and Maryann (Reisner) Soldenski. Rosie was a graduate of Grand Marais High School in the late 1920's. She Married William E. Vaudreuil on August 10, 1940. Rosie moved to San Diego, CA with William while he was stationed there in the U.S. Navy, before moving back to Grand Marais to run a trolling fishing charter. They spent their summers in Grand Marais fishing, and winters living in Ludington where William worked for the Railroad. In the mid 70's they moved to Florida to enjoy retirement together until moving back to Grand Marais in 1982. Rosie and William were married for forty-two years when he preceded her in death on December 16, 1982. She enjoyed reading, crafts, and making wine, but Rosie was the happiest when she was around friends and family.
Rosie is survived by her sister Clara Ciecura currently of Munising, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her Husband William, parents Valentine and Maryann, ten brothers, and four sisters.
A Memorial Mass for Rosie will be on Friday, July 25, 2008 at the Holy Rosary Church at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at the Holy Rosary Cemetery.
