Munising
Rosemary "Rosie" Froberg, age 89, of 509 W. Munising Avenue, died late Tuesday morning, November 9, 2010 at the Schoolcraft County Medical Care Facility in Manistique. She was born on April 21, 1921 in Crystal Falls to the late Richard George and Minnie (Treloar) Brown. Rosemary was raised in Munising and graduated from Wm. G. Mather High School in 1939. She attended the Detroit Business College and was employed by the Munising Woodenware and Munising Paper Company. On July 16, 1949, Rosemary married Donald Austin Froberg. They lived in Milwaukee and returned home to Munising to begin their family. Rosemary and Don owned and operated the Yule Log Resort & Cabins and the Christmas Motel for many years. Don's job had him on the road during the week, so Rosemary was in charge of running the Motel and raising their children while he was gone. In their retirement, they enjoyed wintering in Tuscon, Arizona and Rosemary enjoyed bowling, golfing and playing cards. She and Don were married over fifty-three years when he preceded her in death on April 4, 2003. Rosemary was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church and was a Past Matron of the Munising Chapeter #424 Order of the Eastern Star.
A loving wife, mother and proud grandmother, Rosemary is survived by her two daughters - Nancy (Frederick) Bennett of Shelter Bay and Mary Ann Froberg of Munising; son - Eric Donald (Shirley) Froberg of Munising; grandchildren - Jason Denman, Traci Winsor, Erica Froberg, Kathleen Bennett and Brooke Bennett; great-grandchildren - Jonas and Aili Denman, Faith Leitch and Hazelynn Winsor; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Donald, sister Helen (Harry) Nelson and brother Richard George (Jean) Brown.
Services will be held at St. John's Episcopal Church in Munising on Saturday, November 13, 2010. Visiting time with family and friends will be from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the church. An Order of the Eastern Star Service will begin at 11:00 a.m. and will be immediately followed by memorial service led by Virginia Mannisto.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in memory of Rosemary are preferred to St. John's Episcopal Church, The Shriner's Children's Hospital or the Schoolcraft Medical Care Facility's Activities Fund.
