Russell G. Sherwood

Chatham

Russell G. Sherwood, age 57, of Chatham, died Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at UP Health Systems Marquette.  He was born on September 30, 1964 in Munising, Michigan to the late Russell A. and Glenna (Peterson) Sherwood.  As a child Russ found a love for fishing.  He lived in New Mexico for a number of years where he enjoyed the heat and his job.  Russ worked as a maintenance man, but his favorite part of his job was his landscaping duties.  It was doing this that he found great joy in learning and studying botany and herbology.  Russ also enjoyed reading Louis L'Amour Western books and caring for his “Puppy Dog”.   He found great fellowship and community at the Munising Wesleyan Church.

He is survived by his brothers – Joe (Micaila) Sherwood of Chatham, Mike (Kim) Sherwood of Cadillac, MI, and Dean and (Tracy) Sherwood of Munising, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.  Russ was preceded in death by his parents Russell A. Sherwood and Glenna (William) Holmes.

Visitation will be at the Munising Wesleyan Church on Friday, July 8, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.  Pastor James Peterson will conduct Russ’ memorial service at 12:00 p.m.
