Sandra Marie Lane, age 69, of Wetmore, died on Tuesday morning, January 19, 2021 at UP Health System – Marquette following a lengthy illness. She was born one of seven children to Kenneth “Lefty” and Bonnie (Bonner) LeVeque on February 13, 1951 in Munising. Sandy graduated from Sacred Heart School and then Wm. G. Mather High School in 1969. She worked in the kitchen at the Health Haven and as a clerk at Munising Memorial Hospital. Sandy married George Lane and together they raised their daughter, Tammy. She was a homemaker and volunteered with 4-H when Tammy was involved. As a family they enjoyed time camping, fishing, and swimming. Sandy also worked at Sacred Heart Church as the secretary and she volunteered there with the coffee socials. Sandy was a member of the Wetmore Ladies Club and she ran the local TOPS program for many years. Sandy was talented at knitting, crocheting, painting and crafts. Family gatherings always involved music and she had a beautiful singing voice. She loved flower gardening and decorating her home for Christmas which was her favorite time of the year. When Sandy spoke, she was kind and witty, and was always available to help where she could with heartfelt love and compassion.
She is survived by her husband – George Lane of Wetmore; daughter and son-in-law – Tammy and Duke Maddox of Menasha, WI; granddaughter – Kathrina Maddox of Inver Grove Heights, MN; grandson – Devin Maddox of Duluth, MN; great-granddaughter – Kendra; siblings – Bonnie (Don) Heyrman, Sue (Lyle) Rushford, Patty LeVeque, Pam LeVeque, Tom (Billie) LeVeque, and Ken LeVeque; sister and brother-in-law – Donna (Ray) Gollinger and Bob Lane; and numerous nieces and nephews. Sandy was preceded in death by her parents.
Private family services will be held for Sandy.
