Shingleton
Sharon L. Besaw-Niemi, age 81, of Shingleton, died on Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at her home following a brief illness under the loving care of her family and North Woods Hospice. She was born on July 18, 1940 in Sioux City, Iowa to Orly and Mildred (Hills) Milton. Sharon married William “Bill” Besaw in 1957 and together raised their family. Bill’s work took them to his hometown of Shingleton. Sharon was a homemaker and worked part-time at the US Postal Service and the restaurant in Shingleton. She was widowed in 2014. Sharon was an active member of the Christ Lutheran Church in Shingleton. She loved researching genealogy, reading, and gardening. Sharon married Bill Niemi on October 28, 2018 and they enjoyed their home in Zephyr Hills, Florida where they enjoyed traveling and taking adventures to the Flea Markets together. Sharon was a talented baker and always made detailed gingerbread houses at Christmas. They were mailed to California every year for her grandsons to impatiently wait to eat on Christmas morning.
Sharon is survived by her husband – Bill Niemi of Shingleton; children – Sherry (Mike) Dering of Orange, CA, Karl Besaw of Fort Worth, TX, and Carol Wright of Munising, MI; two grandsons – Christopher and Jonathan Dering; sister – Janet (Duck) Besaw; brothers Arthur Milton and Larry (Sheila) Milton; and numerous nieces and nephews. Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bill Besaw, and brother Lloyd Milton.
A celebration of life will be held this summer.
