Sharon Kay "Sherry" Tyner, age 67, of Slapneck Road in Chatham, died Thursday, September 1, 2011, at her home under the loving care of her family and North Woods Home Hospice. She was born on March 20, 1944 to the late Matt and Madelon (Hinkson) Maki. Sherry married the love of her life James R. Tyner on April 23, 1960. He preceded her in death on January 9, 2009. Sherry had resided in her home on Slapneck Road since 1970, where she not only lived, but would reupholster furniture and car seats, bake wedding cakes, and make tongue and groove paneling. She enjoyed camping with Jim and their boys, starting in tents and moving on up to their fifth wheel camper. Sherry and Jim were members of the Northern Knights Car Club, traveling to shows in their 1957 Chevy. Any time she could be with her family and friends was the time she enjoyed the most.
Sherry is survived by her three sons: James (Jessica) Tyner and their daughter Alayna, Derrick (Pamla) Tyner and their children Nathan (Becky) Harper, Natalie (Ken) Kasten with their baby son Henry Joseph Kasten and Jonathan A. Tyner, Rodney (Heather) Tyner and their children Ashley (Matt Mclenna) Tyner, and Mazie and Owen Nettleton. Sisters - Elaine Gurski, Selina (Bob) Balko; brother - Matt (Kelly) Maki, and numerous brothers and sisters-in-laws and nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Monday, September 5, 2011 at the Bowerman Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon. Pastor Paul Kelto will conduct Sherry's funeral beginning at 12:00 in the funeral home chapel. Committal will be at Pine Grove Cemetery.
