Sona Lou Fincher, age 61, of Gwinn and formerly of Munising, Manistique, Lapeer, and Flint, died late Saturday evening, December 21, 2019 at UPHS Marquette following an eleven-month illness. She was born on October 7, 1958 in Rogers City, Michigan to Charles and Fay (Krey) Fincher. Sona grew up in Flint and raised her three children Melanie, Justin, and Clay. She waitressed and bartended many years at the Jack Pine Lodge. Sona worked as a CNA at Harbour View in Munising and Jacobetti in Marquette. She had a beautiful voice and enjoyed crocheting, gardening, and doing cross stitch. Sona was stubborn and opinionated and she could frustrate you and make you smile all in the same moments. She had the best smile in the world.
Sona is survived by her children – Melanie Nettleton of Imlay City, MI, Justin Hicks of Garden, MI, and Clay Hollingshead of Green Bay; her mother – Fay Fincher; grandchildren – Kaitlyn (Adam) Hamilton, Elizabeth Nettleton, Addison Hicks, and Garrett Hicks; great-granddaughter – Raelyn Hamilton who is due in May of 2020; sisters – Lisa Limon and Stephanie Sharp; best friend and boyfriend – Randy Steen of Gwinn; and numerous nieces and nephews. Sona was preceded in death by her father Charles Fincher and brothers Bobby Charles and Tommy Fincher.
Private family graveside services will be held at a later date at the Hollywood Cemetery in Tallapoosa, Georgia where Sona will be buried next to her father.
