Munising

Stanley L. “Steamer” Johns, age 78, of Munising, died Sunday, February 20, 2022 at Medilodge in Munising.  He was born on April 26, 1943 in Wetmore, Michigan to the late Lyman and Ada (Clark) Johns.  While standing in his cousins wedding he was paired with a bridesmaid named Marilyn McCain.  On December 7, 1968, the two of them were married, and together they raised their two sons.  Stan worked for Timber Products for thirty-nine years and retired as a Log Deck Operator in 2006.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and rides in the woods.  Stanley had the gift of gab, and loved to visit with friends and family.  He also enjoyed all of the dogs they had over the years but especially loved his yorkie Carmen.

Stan is survived by his wife Marilyn Johns of Munising; sons – David (Carmen) Johns of Reading, PA, and Dan Johns of Munising; grandchildren – Samantha (Zack) Hill, David Johns, Jr., Morgan Elizabeth Johns, and Jaqui, Terry, and Luke Disanto; great-grandchild – Aiden Johns with one more on the way; sisters – Dorothy Johns and Opal Kyllonen; sisters-in-law – Charlotte and Carolyn Johns; numerous nieces and nephews; dogs Carmen, Callie, Corkey, and cat Toby.  He was preceded in death by his parents Lyman and Ada; siblings – Edith, Clayton, Harold (Jean), Jimmy, Ivan, Glendale, and infant brothers Benjamin and Donald; and brother-in-law – William Kyllonen.

Visitation will be held on Friday, February 25, 2022 from noon until 2:00 and a memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. all at the Bowerman Funeral Home.
