Stanley Stephen Prunick

Stanley “Cye” Prunick, age 84, of 410 W. Munising Avenue, Munising, died on Tuesday afternoon, June 13, 2017 at the Tendercare Health Center in Munising.  He was born on September 19, 1932 in Munising to John and Stella (Sitlock) Prunick.  Cye grew up in Munising and graduated from Sacred Heart School.  After the death of his father, he went to work at a young age setting pins at the bowling alley and then at Atlas Plywood.  Cye married Nancy Ann LaFlamme on September 29, 1952 and together they raised their seven children.  He briefly worked at the Munising Paper Company and then went to work in woods.  Cye became a member of the Operating Engineers and worked construction throughout the Upper Peninsula until his retirement.  He and Nancy had spent ten years in Sedona, Arizona before returning home to Munising.  Cye loved tinkering in the garage and building things.  After retirement, he would anxiously await the end of the logging work day so he could work on Mike and Jim’s logging trucks.  Cye had taught himself to play the guitar and enjoyed playing and singing at local gigs.

He is survived by wife of over sixty-four years – Nancy Prunick of Munising; their children – Sally Prunick of Sedona, AZ, Yvonne “Sissy” (Terry) Kielar of DePere, WI, Bob (Gail) Prunick of Munising, Mike (Traci) Prunick of Munising, Jim (Suzie) Prunick of Munising, Karen Prunick of Munising, and Joe (Alice) Prunick of Christmas; grandchildren – Josh and Jared Seitz, Jeremy Prunick, Erin Kortman, Christopher, Scott, and Jordan Prunick, Shawn Prunick, Ame Prunick, Joe Prunick, Keith Anderson, Jamie Anderson, and Amy Heribacka; seventeen great-grandchildren with two on the way; sister-in-law – Peg Sappington of Munising; and numerous nieces and nephews.  Cye was preceded in death by his parents, son-in-law Roy Seitz, and siblings Josephine (Stan) Cousneau, Walt (Betty) Prunick, Frank (Veda) Prunick, Jennie (Bob) Knox, Julia (Wayne) Johnston, and John “Yash” (Charlotte) Prunick.

A gathering for a celebration of Cye’s life for family and friends will be held on Monday, July 3, 2017 at the D.A.V. / V.V.A. Hall in Christmas from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
