Stephen R. Barrow, Sr.

Stephen R. Barrow, Sr., age 67, of Shingleton died on Tuesday, March 18, 2025 at the Munising Memorial Hospital following a lengthy illness. He was born in Manistique on October 12, 1957 to the late James and Charlotte (Ruggles) Barrow, Sr. Steve grew up in Royal Oak, Michigan and went to Dondero High School. Steve married Virginia Huff and they moved to Texas where their son, Stephen, Jr. was born. In 1978 the family returned back to the U.P. moved to Shingleton. Steve went to work at a young age and worked manufacturing patio blocks and then at the sawmills in the Upper Peninsula. He enjoyed fishing and loved to be in the woods hunting for morels and leeks. Steve was in his element outdoors and he maintained a beautiful lawn and home maintenance was one of his things. Steve was always there to lend a hand to anyone who needed it. Anyone who met him, loved him. He was a good man and loved his family.

Steve is survived by his son and daughter-in-law – Stephen and Patty Barrow, Jr. of Reno, Nevada; brothers and sisters-in-law – Jim “Lil Wheel” and Kathy Barrow, Jr. of Escanaba and Billy and Diane Barrow of Clarkston; nieces and nephews – Shannon (Matt) Carley, Dallas (Vanessa) Barrow, Daniel Juranek, Deanna Juranek, Darcie Juranek, Bill Barrow Jr., Brenden Barrow; many great nieces and nephews and cousins; and his close friend – Keith Zelner who helped Steve whenever he needed it.

He was preceded by his parents Jim and Charlotte; his sister - Eva Sherman; niece Jennifer Barrow; many aunts and uncles including his great uncle Bob Ruggles who lived with Steve and his mom for many years; and his former wife and Stephens’ mom – Virginia.

Services will be held at a later date.
