Steven L. Carr, age 54, longtime friend of, and resident at the Superior Health Haven in Munising, died Thursday, October 16, 2014 at the Health Haven with his family at his side. He was born in Munising, Michigan on October 14, 1960 to the late Louis and Vera (Colburn) Carr, Jr. Steven enjoyed going for rides, spending time in the woods, eating, and dancing. He participated in the Special Olympics earning ribbons for basketball and running events. Steven worked with the Alger Marquette Community Mental Health Center, working at a lumber yard in Marquette and at the recycling plant in Munising. He also liked giving a hand around the Superior Health Haven, where he had lived for the past twenty-three years. Steven knew how to have fun and was always happy.
He is survived by his sisters - Fran (Ken) Chaltry of Ludington, MI and Nancy Carr of Marshfield, WI; and his extended family at the Superior Health Haven. Steven was preceded in death by his parents - Vera and Louis; brothers - Eugene, Stanly, and Thomas Carr; and sister Judith Lavallo.
Visitation will be on Saturday, October 18, 2014 at the Bowerman Funeral Home in Munising, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon. Rev. Virginia Mannisto will conduct Steven's funeral service at 12:00 noon. Interment will be at the Maple Grove Cemetery.
