Steven M. Laamanen, age 76, of Chatham, died Monday, October 30, 2017 at the Norlite Nursing Center in Marquette. He was born in Detroit, Michigan on May 28, 1941 to the late Walter and Hilma (Hakamaa) Laamanen. Steve moved to California, and worked as an electrical engineer. He later moved to Traverse City, Michigan and worked at a local television station, until his retirement and moving to Chatham. Steve was a quiet man, who enjoyed reading. He went the way he lived his life: quietly, comfortable and in solitude.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Stephanie and Leonard Hester of Huntsville, MO, four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and cousin Dorothy Mukkala of Marquette. He was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Hilma.
A private family service was held, and interment was at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Chatham next to his mother and father.
