Eben Junction / Farmington Hills
Sulo E. Nummela, age 88, of Farmington Hills and formerly of the Chatham - Eben Junction area, died on Tuesday, February 6, 2007. He was born February 15, 1918, to the late Matti and Anna (Maki) Nummela. Sulo grew up on his family farm working with his brothers. After leaving the farm he became a very successful finish carpenter. One of his most memorable places he worked was on the top floor of the Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center. Sulo loved spending his time outside deer and partridge hunting, snowmobiling, and riding his four-wheeler.
Sulo is survived by his brothers - Eino (Marquette), Toivo "Toby" (Chatham), and Urho Nummela (Eben): two nephews - Robert and Raymond Nummela: and niece -Helen Kangas. He was preceded in death by his wife - Eleanor, parents - Matti and Anna, and brother - Onnie.
Services for Sulo will be Sunday, February 18, 2007 at the Bowerman Funeral Home in Munising. A visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M to 12:30 P.M. with a prayer service conducted by Pastor Paul Kelto at 12:30 P.M. Interment will be at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Chatham.
