Munising

Suzette Marie Tiernan, age 64, of Munising, died peacefully at her home under the loving care of her family and North Woods Hospice on Monday morning, January 23, 2017 following a brief illness.  She was born on April 2, 1952 in Munising to the late Earl and Patricia (Rousseau) Daniels.  Suzette graduated from Sacred Heart School and then Wm. G. Mather High School in 1970.  She earned her Certified Nurse Assistant certificate and spent over thirty years caring for patients who easily became friends at Munising Memorial Hospital and at Bay Care Medical Center.  Suzette married Robert “Tiny” Tiernan on December 6, 1974 and together they raised their two daughters.  She was a faithful member of Sacred Heart Church.  Suzette loved spending time with her friends and family.  Although she was the “life of the party” wherever she went, she was usually the first to bed.  Suzette loved to have fun and she enjoyed playing bingo, bowling, golfing, reading, spending time at camp on Lost Lake, spending time on Lake Superior, and playing cards with “the old ladies.”  After retirement, she and Tiny enjoyed spending a month in Alabama or Florida during the winters.  Suzette also enjoyed watching sports on television, attending sporting events, and cheering on the Packers.  Suzette loved her grandchildren and enjoyed every second she spent with them.

She is survived by her husband of over forty-two years – Tiny of Munising; daughters and sons-in-law – Danielle and Eric Beverly of Austin, TX and Raenelle and Mike Ealy of Gaylord, MI; grandchildren – Emma, Mikayla, Lucas, and Lia; siblings – Deb (John) Sands of Marquette, Joanne Daniels of Armstrong Creek, WI, Tom (Jeanie) Daniels of Munising, Rene` (Mike) Allyn of Marquette, and Missy Daniels of L’Anse; mother-in-law – Louise Tiernan of Munising; brothers and sisters-in-law – Jan (Richard) Welch of Goodland, FL, John (Robin) Tiernan of Munising and Tim (Durae) Tiernan of Munising; numerous nieces and nephews; and many lifelong friends.

Suzette was preceded in death by her parents – Patsy and Earl; father-in-law – John “Jack” Tiernan; and infant sister Mary Ann.

Visitation will be held at the Bowerman Funeral Home on Thursday evening from 5:00 – 9:00 p.m.  A Parish Vigil Service and time of sharing memories and stories will take place at 7:00 p.m.   Father Jose Cherian will celebrate Suzette’s Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, January 27, 2017 at Sacred Heart Church at 12:00 noon.  Interment will be at the Maple Grove Cemetery in the spring.

Memorials are requested to be made to the family or the Eric Beverly Family Foundation.
