Terry P. Nolan, age 55, of N3315 Buckhorn Road, Wetmore, died at his home on Easter Sunday, March 23, 2008 under the loving care of his family and North Woods Hospice. He was born on December 22, 1952 in Warrenville, IL, to the late Thomas and Beth (Ladefoged) Nolan. Terry married Janice Beaudry on August 22, 1977. He worked for many years for the Alger County Road Commission. Terry, Janice, his brother Mike and his wife Mary Sue Nolan built and then operated the Timber Ridge Lodge for over twenty years. He enjoyed going for rides on his motorcycle, especially the Lake Superior Loop and going for rides through the woods with his dog Lucca while listening to Elmer Aho on the radio. He also enjoyed family camping trips along Lake Superior. Terry was a determined and hardworking man, who loved spending time with his family and had a special respect for animals and all of the wildlife around him. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Munising.
Terry is survived by his wife of thirty years - Janice Nolan of Wetmore; sons - Tom (Amie) Nolan of Big Rapids, and Mark (Alana) Nolan of Chassell; stepsons - Dean (Teri) Johnson, and Paul (Kelly) Johnson; brother - Mike (Mary Sue) Nolan of Munising; grandchildren - Trevor, Taylor, and a baby girl due any day; several step grandsons; numerous special nieces and nephews; and several close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Thomas and Beth, and brother Thomas Nolan.
There will be visiting time at the Bowerman Funeral Home from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 26, 2008. Terry's Memorial Mass will be celebrated by Father Chris Gardiner on Thursday, March 27, at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church in Munising. Memorials can be made in Terry's name to the Alger County Humane Society or the North Woods Home Hospice.
Graveside services for Terry will be on Saturday, May 17, 2008 at 12:00 noon at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Munising.
