Terry Tufnell, age 39, of N7566 Spruce Street, AuTrain, died unexpectedly on Monday, March 10, 2008 while visiting family in Lansing. He was born on July 11, 1968 in Lansing, Michigan to Wayne and Beverly (Steinhoff) Tufnell. Terry attended Eastern High School in Lansing and worked at Holiday Lanes Bowling where he was the youngest bowler to bowl a 300. In 1987, he moved to the U.P. and worked at Glen's, Hub's , and then Bob's IGA for 12 years as the butcher. He briefly worked at the AmericInn. Terry enjoyed watching the Detroit Lions, Detroit Pistons, and Michigan Wolverines. He enjoyed coffee in the morning, fixing up houses, playing with his son Jordan, hunting deer and birds, and spending time in the pool with his kids. Terry also enjoyed horseshoes, golfing, and canoeing. He was a great bowler and had a perfect 300 eight times and also an 800 series. He participated in many tournaments around the U.P. and country and tried out for the PBA.
He is survived by his children - Terry Tufnell II - age 16, of Kansas, Emily Ann Tufnell - age 12, Megan Elizabeth Tufnell - age 8, and Jordan Emerson Tufnell - age 6 all of Munising; his mother - Beverly Tufnell of AuTrain; siblings - Gale (Jim) Rodgers of Japan, James (Dora) Tufnell of East Lansing, Gary Tufnell of Lansing, Kelly Tufnell of Lansing, Dale Tufnell of DeWitt, and Carla Tackett of Lansing; and numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Terry was preceded in death by his father Wayne Tufnell on January 25, 1992.
Services will be held at the Bowerman Funeral Home on Thursday, March 13, 2008. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Rev. Deborah Hubbard will conduct Terry's funeral service in the funeral home's chapel at 7:00 p.m.
