Limestone
Thelma Jean Dartt, age 87, of Trout Lake Road, Limestone, died following a lengthy illness on Sunday morning, September 30, 2012 at her home where she was surrounded by her family and under the care of North Woods Hospice. She was born on August 18, 1925 in Highben, Michigan to the late Clifford and Olive (Gedding) Wright. Thelma graduated from Trenary High School in 1946 and then she waitressed across the country so she could travel. After living in Texas, she returned back to Michigan and was visiting her brother in Detroit when he introduced her to Clyde C. Dartt. They had a whirlwind two week romance and were married in Detroit on February 3, 1951. Clyde and Thelma moved to the U.P. where they raised their four children. Thelma was a homemaker and she and Clyde enjoyed traveling, camping, fishing, and casino-ing together. They were married over fifty-one years when he preceded her in death on September 29, 2002. Thelma also enjoyed quilting, working with leather, and attending garage sales.
She is survived by her four children - Clyde "Butch" (Sheila) Dartt of Marshfield, WI, Sandie Dartt of Limestone, John (Itanna) Dartt of Chatham, and Earl (Shelly) Dartt of Marshfield, WI; grandchildren - Brian, Jeanna, Trisha, Gregory, Ronald, Sarah, John, Amber, Angela, Michael, Kimberley, Samantha, Carl, Timothy, and Alicia; ten great-grandchildren; brother - Leonard Wright of Limestone; and numerous nieces and nephews. Thelma was preceded in death by her parents, husband Clyde, grandchildren Noel Dartt and Margaret Jean Coleman, sister Lena Nuerenberg, and brothers Tom, Earl, and Lawrence Wright.
Friends may call at the Bowerman Funeral Home in Munising, Michigan on Wednesday evening from 5:00 until 8:00 and also at the Limestone Baptist Church on Thursday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the services. Pastor Ted Jolls will conduct the funeral at the church at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 4, 2012. Interment will be at the Limestone Township Cemetery.
