Munising
Theodore "Boy" John Paquette, age 85, of N7111 Hilltop Road, Munising, died under the loving care of his family and North Woods Hospice at his home on Saturday morning, August 31, 2013. He was born on May 20, 1928 in Indiantown, Michigan to the late Theodore and Mabel (Carr) Paquette.
On May 10, 1947, he married his lifelong partner, Joyce L. Demogola. When Ted was young, he worked for many years in the woods in the logging industry. He then was hired at Kimberly Clark where he worked until he retired.
Some of Ted's favorite past times were hunting and fishing with his son and grandsons. He also loved having family barbeques and get togethers. In his younger years, he enjoyed bonfires with his dad, brother, sisters, wife, and kids, where they all sat around the fire till late into the night telling stories and just spending time together. Over the years, he liked vacationing with his wife and friends. Ted just enjoyed the simple things in life - like sitting outside in the summer feeding the chipmunks with his granddaughters, puttering around the yard, and visiting with the neighbors. He also enjoyed playing horseshoes and cheering on the Detroit Lions and Tigers. Ted was a member of the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians.
He is survived by his two loving daughters - Debbie (Kim) Tucker and Chris Cook-Savola of Munising; daughter-in-law - Vicki (Steve) Arkins of Gwinn; a sister - Pearl Perry of Marquette; sister-in-law - Laurel Emanuel of Aurora, IL; six grandchildren - Brad, David, Wade, Crystal, Amanda, and Nicole; six great-grandchildren - Karilyn, Madeline, Savannah, Scott, Nathan, and Jemma; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ted was preceded in death by his loving wife of sixty-three years - Joyce; his son - David J. Paquette of Munising; sisters - Viola Magnusson, Thelma Peterson, Grace Kaltenbach, and Mary Rose Johnson; brother Joe Paquette, Sr; his parents Ted Sr. and Mabel; and infant grandchildren Carrie Paquette and Warren Carter.
At Ted's request, there will be no funeral service. Burial will be at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Munising.
The family of Ted would like to take this opportunity to thank North Woods Home Nursing and Hospice for all of their time that was spent not only with Ted but with his entire family. And also the wonderful care that they have given to our father and friend.
When I am Gone
"When I am gone, release me. Let me go. I have so many things to see and do. You mustn't tie yourself to me with tears. Be happy that we had so many beautiful years. I gave to you my love. You can only guess How much you gave to me in happiness. I thank you for the love you each have shown, But now it's time I traveled on alone. So grieve a while for me, if grieve you must. Then let your grief be comforted by trust. It's only for a while that we must part, So bless the memories within your heart. I won't be far away, for life goes on. So if you need me, call and I will come. Though you can't see or touch me, I'll be near. And if you listen with your heart, You'll hear all my love around you soft and clear. And then, when you must come this way alone, I'll greet you with a smile and say welcome home..."
