Theodore Lewis Soldenski - Age 95.
A little bit of Grand Marais History died on February 22, 2008. Surviving is Margaret his wife of 58 years and step-son Tim Reid of Traverse City. Ted ("Buckshot") was one of 16 brothers and sisters. Two survive, Rosalee Vaudriel and Clara Ciecura. He was born and raised in this special Lake Superior Village in an era of horse and wagons and lumberjacks. Ted's home "on the bay" across from Holy Rosary Catholic Church was always open to newcomers and old timers alike. Most all historians and storytellers of Grand Marais' good old days included quotes or information from Ted.
His passion was poker tournaments and his pride was making the last table and even winning well into his nineties.
A Memorial Mass at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Grand Marais will be celebrated on Saturday, May 10, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. and there will still be at least one more 4th of July bon fire.
