Shingleton
Thomas William Besaw, age 83, of Shingleton, died on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at the Tendercare Health Center in Munising. He was born in Shingleton on May 26, 1932 to the late John and Margaret (Warchock) Besaw. Tom worked for many years at the Shingleton Saw Mill for Roy and Bob Graves, and also did maintenance on the Manistique-Lake Superior-Ishpeming MLS&I (aka Haywire) railroad tracks. Tom enjoyed fishing for brook trout, hunting partridge, and hunting rabbits with his beagles. He also enjoyed rides in the woods with his brothers and friend John Bellant, rummage sales, trips to the casino, and playing the harmonica.
Tom is survived by his sisters – Eleanor (George) Livermore and Mary May Palmer both of VanMeer; brother – Donald “Duck” (Janet) Besaw of Shingleton; sister-in-law – Sharon Besaw; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents – John and Margaret; and siblings – John, Pat, Stanley, Dave, William, and Alice.
Visitation will be on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at the Bowerman Funeral Home from 3:00 until 4:00 p.m. Pastor Robin VeltKamp will conduct Tom’s funeral at 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be at the Munising Township Cemetery in Wetmore on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at 4:30 p.m.
