Thomas "Tommy" Morrison

Munising Thomas "Tommy" Morrison, age 54, of N7363 Ridge Road, Munising, died Monday afternoon, January 6, 2014 at Marquette General Hospital following a brief illness. He and his twin brother, Timmy, were born on October 12, 1959 in Munising to the late Cornelius "Ed" and Gretta (Knox) Morrison. A lifelong Munising resident, Tom graduated from Wm. G. Mather High School in 1978. He worked a couple of years for Gatiss Distributing and then went to work with Doug Peters. It was with Doug that Tommy learned his drywall skills. In the 1990's, he began his own company, T & C Drywall. When his schedule allowed, Tom worked as a bartender at the Moose Lodge. He married Marsha K. Stone and they have spent twenty-nine years together. Above all, Tommy enjoyed being a father to his son, Chad, and Papa to Alyssia, Blaise, Drake, and Ember. He and Chad not only worked together, but spent a lot of family time together. Tommy enjoyed the grandkid's Motocross races and was proud of all they did. He also enjoyed spending time with his nuclear family whether they were playing cards, cutting wood, or sitting around the fire at the Tourist Park. Tommy was a member of the Moose Lodge and Sons of the American Legion. He was a kind, patient, and caring man. Tommy is survived by Marsha; son and daughter-in-law - Chad and Jenn Morrison of Munising; grandchildren - Alyssia Potter (14) , Blaise Morrison (10), Drake Morrison ( 9) , and Ember Morrison (5); siblings - Kathy (Bill) Watson of Whitmore Lake, MI, Larry Dunklee of Venice, FL, Ed (Marilyn) Morrison of Marquette, Mary Jo "MoJo" (Jack) Gariepy of Munising, Dick (Mary Beth) Morrison of Columbus, OH, Tim (Ann) Morrison of Munising, Bill (Rita) Morrison of Munising, and David (Alison) Morrison of Flushing; in-laws - Harold and Margaret "Cookie" Stone and Marilyn Floria; aunts - Dawn Morrison and Grace Bjerke; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Gretta, and numerous aunts and uncles. Services will be held at the United Methodist Church in Munising on Thursday, January 9, 2014. Visiting time with family and friends will be from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon. Rev. Sandra Kolder will conduct Tommy's memorial service at 12:00 noon. Interment will be at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Munising on Thursday, June 12, 2014 at 1:00 p.m.
