Trenary
Thomas Earl Quarfoot, age 68, of Gilliland Road, Trenary, died at his home following a lengthy illness on Wednesday, July 10, 2013. Tom was born on October 30, 1944 in Escanaba, Michigan to Earl and Ann (Shega) Quarfoot. Tom graduated from Trenary High School. He was a telecommunications line technician and worked across Michigan before going to work for TDS in Chatham. Tom worked at TDS over twenty years until his health contributed to his retirement in 1995. He was a member of St. Rita Catholic Church in Trenary, but he often attended St. Therese in AuTrain. Tom enjoyed being around people, making them laugh, and sharing jokes. He liked to coffee klatch at the BP and Silver Dollar. Tom enjoyed fly fishing and tying his own flies, hunting, and being outdoors. His greatest joys in life were his son Marcus and his granddaughter Hailey. He was so proud.
Tom is survived by his son - Marcus and Tiffany Quarfoot of Munising; granddaughter - Hailey Quarfoot; mother - Ann Quarfoot of Trenary; brother - Bob Quarfoot of Corona, CA; niece - Mary Jo (David) Webb of Arizona; stepchildren - Tommy Hyde II of AuTrain and Heather (Bill) Nord of AuTrain; and stepgrandchildren - Jason, Thomas III, Savannah, Ozzy, Chayton, Travis, Aidan, Johnny, and Matthew. He was preceded in death by his father Earl Quarfoot, sister Carole Ashley, nephew Michael Flynn, and lifelong friend and Marcus' mom Brenda Kroupa.
Visitation will be held at the Bowerman Funeral Home in Munising on Sunday evening from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. Father Chris Gardiner will celebrate Tom's funeral Mass on Monday, July 15, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Rita Church in Trenary. Interment will be at the Mathias Township Cemetery in Trenary at a later date.
