Thomas Leonard Szafran, of AuTrain passed away Tuesday, August 24, 2021 in Seney, Michigan at the age of 62. He was born on September 28, 1958 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Leonard Szafran and Helen “Dolly” Szafran. Tom grew up in Detroit and graduated from Denby High School. Before owning his own business, Tom was a devoted employee who worked with many great companies including Cottage Hospital, Total Coffee and vending and IBM.
Tom and Cammy started their journey in 1992 in Detroit Michigan. They were wed on August 15, 1998 and were married for 23 years enjoying countless good times and forming amazing memories. Tom loved the outdoors spending many hours fishing, camping, biking and more. He loved spending time at their property in Gladwin around the campfire with family, friends, and pets.
In 2018 they moved to AuTrain purchased A&L grocery and created Zaf’s party store serving the community great food for the past 3 years.
He is survived by his wife of over 23 years – Cammy (Beckwith) Szafran of AuTrain; Son and Daughter in law - Thomas and Jaime Szafran of Layton, Utah; Parents-in-law Coleen and Larry Nadolski of Coco Florida and Dale and Sally Beckwith of AuTrain; Brother-in-law and sister-in-law Brad Beckwith and JoAnna Blair; and niece and nephew Ibby and Joshua Beckwith. Tom was preceded in death by his parents Leonard and Dolly and brother Paul Domingo Szafran.
A celebration of life gathering will take place at the AuTrain Community Center on Saturday Oct. 2, 2021 from 12-4.
