Tillie Lydia (Fleck) Niedzwiecki, age 93, of E9628 E. Munising Avenue, died on Friday morning, December 18, 2009 at her home under the loving care of her family and North Woods Hospice. She was born on March 1, 1916 in Cleveland, Ohio to Peter and Gertrude (Mali) Fleck. Tillie graduated from high school and then on May 15, 1940, she married Joseph S. Niedzwiecki and together they raised five children. She worked in the kitchen at the Red Cedar Restaurant and Munising Memorial Hospital, retiring in 1981. Tillie was a faithful member of Sacred Heart Church and she was truly a selfless Christian woman who was always helping others. She enjoyed learning things and looking at cookbooks. She and Joe would often work in the garden together, they made homemade quilts for each of their children and grandchildren, and they loved dancing at the Club Majestic in their early years and then later on at home during the Saturday night broadcast of Lawrence Welk. They were married over sixty-six years when Joe preceded her in death on January 9, 2007.

Tillie is survived by her three sons - Randy Niedzwiecki, Joe (Linda) Niedzwiecki, and Jim (Ruth) Niedzwiecki all of Munising; two daughters - Camie (Larry) Miller of Marquette and Gail (Dan) Woelfel of Maricopa, AZ; seven grandchildren - Chris Kurth, Joseph "JB" Niedzwiecki, Mike Miller, Scott (Pam) Miller, Amy (Tim) Barrett, Tressa (Patrick) Vrba, Aaron (Ryan) Woelfel; eight great-grandchildren; sister - Sylvia Stevenson of Munising; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Joe, and three brothers Adolph, Boris, and Walter Fleck.

Friends may call at the Bowerman Funeral Home on Sunday evening from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. A Parish Vigil Service will be conducted in the funeral home's chapel at 7:00 p.m. Father Chris Gardiner will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, December 21, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Church in Munising. Interment will be at the Maple Grove Cemetery on Friday, May 7, 2010 at 2:00 p.m.

Tillie's family would like to thank all of the workers at North Woods Hospice, with a special thank you to her main caregivers Diane and Norma.
