Victoria "Vickie" Bonevelle, age 50, of E5392 Woodland Avenue, AuTrain, Michigan died unexpectedly on Monday, February 25, 2008 at 7:29 p.m. at Marquette General Hospital. She was born on February 10, 1958 in Gettysburg, PA to the late C. Richard and Della Bowers. She was a graduate of Biglerville High School in 1976, earned her Bachelor Degree from Clarion St. University, and her Masters in Early Childhood Education from Edinboro University. Vickie had a passion for teaching. She taught in Germany, Colorado, but mostly in Pennsylvania where she was the Preschool Director of the First Presbyterian Church in Corry, PA. She moved to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan in 1998. Vickie enjoyed being outdoors surrounded by nature. Even though she had made the U.P. her home Vickie was always proud of her Pennsylvania Dutch heritage. On May 19, 2000, Vickie married Rick Bonevelle. Her family was very important to her. Vickie was very loving and giving, but not only to her family but to anyone she knew, she was happy to be the neighborhood mom. The highlight of Vickie's life was becoming a grandmother. She was proud of her son's military service and would send packages to Forward Deployed Members of Armed Forces in Iraq, Afghanistan, Korea, and Japan. Vickie attended church at Eden Lutheran Church in Munising. She enjoyed spending time with her dog Obee.
Vickie is survived by her husband - Richard Bonevelle of AuTrain; daughter - Heather Knickerbocker of AuTrain; sons - Mike Knickerbaocker , LTJG of the U.S. Navy of San Diego, CA and Ross Knickerbocker of AuTrain; grandson - Lander Neo Knickerbocker; siblings - Richard Bowers of Hanover, PA, Michelle (Ron) Pritt of East Berlin, PA and Dennis (Deline) Bowers of Lebanon, PA; and numerous nieces and nephews. Vickie was preceded in death by both of her parents in 2001.
Services will be held on Friday, February 29, 2008 at the Bowerman Funeral Home in Munising. Visitation will be from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. Rev. Dr. Lynn Hubbard will conduct Vickie's funeral service at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home's chapel.
