Vida Marie Prato, age 90, of 501 Prospect Street, Munising, died Sunday morning August 12, 2007 at the Tendercare Health Center in Munising. She was born on February 19, 1917 in Trout Creek, Michigan to Louis and Mary (Oberstar) Lustick. Vida graduated from Trenary High School in 1934. On May 4, 1940, she married Kenneth Prato.
" Mom's life was her husband, children, and family. Born to a large farming family, she learned how to work hard. She never played a sport, but liked to watch football on tv. She was our 'sentry' when we were swimming. It wasn't until we were grown that we learned she couldn't swim. She said, 'But I can holler.' She liked to ride and look for partridge, pick berries, and go on picnics. She canned, cooked, baked, and enjoyed playing cards. Such a good Mom. She loved her Church. We were lucky to have this Mom of ours and we will miss her and remember with love always."
Vida is survived by her husband of over sixty-seven years - Kenneth Prato of Munising; daughter - Linda (Jack) Depew of Norway; sons - John (Marcia) Prato of Sherwood, WI and Allen (Judy) Prato of Wetmore; two brothers - Mike and Rudy Lustick; one sister - Bertha (Bob) Berg; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; special sister-in-law - Mary Gosselin of Munising; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, and three sisters. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated by Father Chris Gardiner on Thursday, August 16, 2007 at Sacred Heart Church in Munising at 10:00 a.m. Visiting time with family and friends will held in LaMothe Hall following the Mass. Interment will be at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Munising.
