Wetmore
Walter "Bud" Q. Hase, age 85, of Wetmore, died early Monday morning, January 24, 2011 at Munising Memorial Hospital. He was born in Munising on June 21, 1925 to the late Joseph and Blanch (Knox) Hase. Bud enlisted into the U.S. Navy in August of 1942. He served aboard the USS Ranger (CV-4). Bud earned the American Theater and Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbons. He was honorably discharged on February of 1946 as a Seaman 1st Class. Bud returned home and began working at the Munising Woodenware and Atlas Plywood before he started working in construction. He worked for Caspian and Bacco before retiring in 1965. Bud had married Anita Balko on July 22, 1950 and they raised their daughter, Darlene. He loved to hunt, fish and take rides in the woods.
Bud is survived by his wife of sixty years - Anita Hase of Wetmore; daughter - Darlene (Terry) Roberts of Munising; grandson - Terry D. Roberts of Munising; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Joseph Hase, Joyce Niemi, Shirley "Jeannie" VanCleave, Peggy Fleck, Gwendolyn Koenig, Donald Hase and William "Billy' Hase.
Visiting time will be from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. at the Munising Township Hall in Wetmore, on Saturday, January 29, 2011. A prayer service will be conducted by Deacon Tom Moseley at 2:00 p.m. with a luncheon to follow immediately after.
The American Legion Honor Guard and Deacon Tom Moseley will conduct a committal service on Saturday, May 21, 2011 at the Munising Township Cemetery in Wetmore beginning at 11:00 a.m.
