Wetmore
William "Bill" Reed, age 86, of Cedar Street, Wetmore, died on Saturday evening, September 24, 2011 at the Jacobetti Home for Veterans in Marquette. He was born in Lansing, Michigan on December 3, 1924 to George and Addie (Seavey) Reed. Bill served in the U.S. Navy during WWII in the Asiatic Pacific. He earned the Asiatic Pacific and American Area Medals, the Philippine Liberation Medal with one star and the WWII Victory Medal. He married Jennie Parcel and she preceded him in death on February 28, 1976. Bill worked in the woods for many years. He married Delores M. Cornish on February 5, 1977. Bill loved to fish and hunt.
He is survived by his wife of over thirty-four years Delores Reed of Wetmore and his daughter Patti Reed of North Carolina, father-in-law, Fred Cornish. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, wife Jennie and his brother.
Graveside services will be held at the Munising Township Cemetery in Wetmore on Saturday, October 8, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. with military honors conducted by the Alger County Veterans Council and American Legion Honor Guard.
