Chatham
William “Bill” D. Callen, age 71, of Chatham and formerly of Chicago, Illinois died, Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at his home following a lengthy illness. He was born on February 14, 1946 in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin to William and Doris Jean (Plenge) Callen. After graduating from high school, Bill entered into the United States Air Force. He served two tours in Vietnam, and was a photographer for the Air Force. Bill was honorably discharged, and was very proud of his service to our country. He lived in the Chicago area for some time, where he enjoyed participating in Civil War reenactments. Bill moved to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan to Chatham, where he enjoyed hunting, spending time at his camp, and being out in nature. He was also an avid reader.
He is survived by his mother – Doris Jean Erwin of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania; brother - Brent Erwin of Lindenhurst, IL; sister – Sue Erwin of Boiling Springs, PA; nephew – Joshua (Lyu) Gramley of Eugene, OR; niece – Jennifer Gramley of Enola, PA; and his beloved cat – Mosby. Bill was preceded in death by his father – William O. Callen, Jr.
In accordance with Bill’s wishes no public services will be held at this time.
