Wilma L.Read, age 71, of Shingleton, died unexpectedly, Sunday, December 11, 2011, at Marquette General Hospital. She was born on April 28, 1940, in Vienna Township, MI to the late Morton and Edith (West) Wicker. Wilma was a graduate of William G. Mather High School in Munising. She married Albert C. Read, Jr. on May 31, 1974, and they were married for over thirty-two years when he preceded her in death on November 23, 2006. Wilma retired from Timber Products after working nearly thirty years in the veneer mill. She enjoyed Shopping and Traveling with Al.
She is survived by her three children - Susan Murray of Lake City, FL, Albert C. Read III of Lower Michigan, and Heather (Naresh) Nayak of San Mateo, CA; grandchildren - grandchildren - Jamie, Curtis, Clayton, Alayna, Spencer, Anirudh, Sidarth, Megan, and Chelsea; great-grandchildren - Nathan and Allison; sisters - Jean Tweedale of Chatham, Shirley Wicker of Shingleton, Kris (Walt) Bower of Shingleton, and Lesa Richardson of Shingleton; brothers - Steve (Darlene) Richardson of Escanaba, Don (Bonnie) Richardson of Shingleton, and Bob Richardson of Shingleton; and numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews; and her much loved cat Daisy. Wilma was preceded in death by her husband - Al Read, parents - Morton Wicker and Edith Richardson; and step-father - Donald Richardson.
Visitation will be at the Bowerman Funeral Home on Friday, December 16, 2011 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Pastor Paul Kelto will conduct Wilma's memorial service beginning at 12:00 noon at the funeral home. Interment will be at the Munising Township Cemetery.
