Munising
Winolla "Winnie" Shepley, age 80, of Munising, died with her family around her on Friday evening, November 28, 2008 at the Tendercare Health Center in Munising following a brief illness. She was born on June 12, 1928 in Fife Lake, Michigan to Cecil and Rachel (Wilkes) Higby and her family moved to Munising at a young age. On October 14, 1944, she married Roy Shepley and together they raised their four daughters. Winnie worked for Dr. Ruggles for many years and she was also a homemaker. She enjoyed taking rides in the woods, going on trips to Marquette, embroidering, watching television, and working crossword puzzles. Winnie expressed to her children a beautiful peace in her dying process and assured them that Jesus was in her heart and she was not afraid to go home.

She is survived by her three daughters - Mazie (Pete) Hebert of Munising, Lana (Frank) Heyrman of VanMeer, and Candy Shepley of Munising; grandchildren - Debbie, Nick, Lee, Rachel, Wayne, Frankie, Carol, Shannon, Georgia, and Mark; 21 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Winnie was preceded in death by her parents, husband Roy, daughter Vivian Shepley, grandson Brian "Bub" Heyrman, brother George Higby, and sisters Ethel Hautamaki, Ruby Meadows, and June Higby.

Services for Winnie will be held at the Bowerman Funeral Home on Monday, December 1, 2008. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. and Pastor Jason LaFlamme will conduct her funeral service at 5:00 p.m. Interment will be at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Munising.
