Zita L. Stebelton, age 71, formerly of Van Meer, died Thursday morning, January 28, 2021 at her home at Whispering Pines in Chatham. She was born on February 23, 1949 Newfoundland, Canada to the late Philip and Loretta Murphy. She Married William E. Stebelton on October 17, 1977. Zita worked for a few years as a nanny and loved caring for the children. She loved the community while she attended at Shingleton’s Cornerstone Baptist Church and would make and send cards to members for birthdays and anniversaries. Zita also enjoyed trips to the casino and volunteering at the Moose Lodge with Bill.
Zita is survived by her son William (fiancé Kayla) Stebelton II; many brothers and sisters-in-law, and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bill, and brother Philip Murphy.
Services will be held at the Bowerman Funeral Home on Friday, February 5, 2021. Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Pastor Jason LaFlamme will conduct Zita’s funeral in the funeral home’s chapel at 2:00 p.m. Covid precautions and attendance regulations will be observed as directed by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services. Masks will be required, and the funeral home staff will be assisting with social distancing and 25 person attendance restrictions during the visitation.
Graveside services for Zita will be held at the Maple Grove Cemetery on Thursday, May 6, 2021 at 2:00 p.m.
